New World Record Attempt
We are going for a new world record, for the most amount of money raised for a charity cause in coins! This record attempt is to raise much needed funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices Weybridge.
So what does the record attempt involve?
I, along with the Hospices have been approved to attempt a new world record by Guinness World Records® to raise the largest amount of money for a charitable cause in coins. The World Record Attempt is called "The Everest £1 COINTUBE Mountain World Record Attempt - The Largest Amount of Money Raised For Charity in Coins" where we hope to raise over £200,000 in £1 coins.
Mount Everest stands at an altitude of 8,850 metres so we are going to be using 8,850 plastic tubes with each tube representing 1 metre of Everest and able to take £30 in £1 coins.
Provided each tube is filled successfully we will smash the existing record and raise £265,500 for the Woking & Sam Beare (Weybridge) Hospices.
The current record which was set in 1998 in Portugal stands at 44,395,727.96 Portuguese escudos which was around £152,217 (1998 exchange rate) and was donated to UNICEF.
We will be getting local businesses around the catchment areas of both Hospices them to Businesses, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Clubs as well as getting the general public involved in this record attempt. As we receive the tubes back with £1 coins inside, we will then use the tubes to build The £1 Coin Tube Mountain in The Peacocks Shopping Centre in Woking.
We are also going to reward those who fill the most tubes with their very own Summit Flag.

The business which includes schools, colleges, universities, clubs... etc that fills the most tubes will be given a flag that will display their logo or insignia that will take summit point on the tube mountain. To give all sized organisations a chance, the flag will be awarded to the organisation who raises the most money per person in the organisation. See the example below. |
